Microsoft has started taking pre-order for its Surface tablet, the base model comes with 32GB of internal memory and cost just $499 – iPad 3 comes with 16GB for same price. But you will be shocked to hear that Windows RT, Office 13 and few apps that come pre-installed on Surface eats upto 10GB of space. That is like installing Windows on PC. So you are left with around 20GB of space. Here is a statement from Microsoft Surface test manager Ricardo Lopez while responding to a question on Reddit:
“After the OS, OfficeRT and a bunch of apps, you will still have more that 20GB. As you say, you can always add an SD card and while you cannot add apps there, you can get music, movies and photos there.”
Though you can increase the storage by external memory but that space cannot be used for installing apps. iPad users will be happy to know that iOS along with bundled apps takes mere 1GB of space.
