According to iMore, Apple will launch its next generation iPhone 5 in October. The new iPhone will be 4G LTE compatible as we saw in the case of the new iPad and will feature screen size similar to iPhone 4S and that is 3.5″. It will also feature a new micro dock connector to make space for internal component.
“So to sum up, iPhone 5,1 is on track for:
- Similar if not same sized screen (currently 3.5-inch but not set in stone)
- 4G LTE radio
- New “micro dock” connector
- Fall/October 2012 release”
Now October launch makes sense because iPhone 4S was just launched in fall last year and is still doing quite well. It might also support 4G LTE because Apple recently launched its new iPad with LTE support. We don’t know about micro dock connector but a 3.5″ screen size contradicts recent rumors by Reuters that next iPhone will feature a 4.6 inch display.
Apple has decided on the bigger 4.6-inch display for its next iPhone and started placing orders to its suppliers, the Maeil Business Newspaper said, quoting an unnamed industry source.
